Princeton Collegiate Moot Court (PCMC) is Princeton University’s premier moot court team, competing against peer universities in simulated appellate arguments before panels of legal faculty, practitioners, and distinguished jurists. Founded in late 2022 and entirely student-run, PCMC participates at an elite level in both written and oral advocacy through the American Moot Court Association (AMCA).
Each year, AMCA releases an original fact pattern with two unresolved legal issues based on real case law, forming the basis for that year’s oral and written competitions. PCMC members read legal precedents and develop arguments in support of either the petitioner or respondent. PCMC affords its members the opportunity to develop critical writing, logic, and legal reasoning skills. Participants also have the opportunity to hone their appellate advocacy skill by thinking and responding extemporaneously to sophisticated legal questions.
